Laptop Repair in Toronto

Friday, May 28th, 2010
imageLaptops are great machines. The ability to carry everything with you in a compact unit, set up anywhere and work, online if there is access to WiFi, is priceless. But when things go wrong, it can be terrible.

When your laptop has everything on it from birthday reminders to the slideshow presentation for work, having something go wrong can be a very stressful event. Unlike desktop computers, laptops are not very conducive to DIY repairs and it`s best to find a someone who does laptop repair in Toronto.

It`s not easy finding someone who is qualified to make repairs on your laptop. Toronto is chock full of so-called computer experts who may know a thing or two, but what they don`t know could destroy your computer. Laptops are far more delicate than most people suspect and it`s not a great idea to let just anyone muck around in there. If you care about your computer, you`ll want to ensure that you find someone who will do a good job and who has plenty of experience.

You will no doubt pay more for a true repair service. It`s worth it, though, since the downsides are many if you opt for a hack job at half the price. Some of the problems associated with people advertising as laptop repair specialists without actually being qualified include the following:

• Loss of data. You risk losing everything on your hard drive if you let the wrong person mess around. Trained laptop repair specialists will be able to either repair your computer without damaging your data, or they should be able to extract it for you, in the case that nothing more can be done for your laptop.

• Security. Not everyone is on the straight and narrow and if you have private info on your laptop, that`s going to be out there for the repairman to see, so make sure you find someone trustworthy to do the job.

• Theft. Sadly, there are a few people who pose as a laptop repair service, collect as many machines as possible to “repair” and then vanish. Along with your equipment which is then repaired and resold. It`s not something you hear about every day, but these con artists do exist, so be aware.

How to Protect Yourself

The best way to ensure nothing bad happens to you and your laptop is to opt for a professional laptop repair service. They should be legit. Here are some signs that the service is a good one:

• They have a proper storefront or office.

• You need to sign a service agreement.

• Paperwork is filled out with information on both sides.

• They have high quality ads.

• People are recommending the laptop repair service.

None of these should be taken on their own as a sign of quality, but if you find a laptop repair service that fits 3 or more, chances are you have a good service on your hands. You might even ask to speak with previous clients to find out what their experience was. And, of course, there is always the internet, which can be very useful for finding reviews of the specific businesses, if needed. This can be a huge help in making a decision as to which service to use.

Your laptop is an important part of your life and as such, it should be cared for. Don`t just hand it off to anyone who claims to recognize a circuit board. Take the time to research laptop repair in Toronto and find the best repair service for your computer.

Notebook Computers

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010
imageNotebook computers will not win any prizes for their enhanced features, well, not yet anyway, but, what it lacks in features and power is more than made up for by its portability. A notebook computer is designed to be a work horse, but, without being a full version of a desktop computer. That is left to the laptops of the world. By providing users with the important features that allow the job to get done and with plenty of battery life to sustain a notebook user throughout a working or studying day, a notebook provides a great option for a computer that must be ultra lightweight to make it viable for constant transportation. With security characteristics many notebooks incorporate to assist in the protection of vital data and increased internet connectivity means that a notebook may be small in size but large on staying connected and keeping your secrets (company, business and study). Using a Celeron/Centrino or Sempron style processor reduces power consumption and permits notebook user to never have to worry about battery life dying when they need it most. An average battery should have 4-5 life before requiring a recharge. A notebook, typically, has a TFT screen, which measures 12-14” a keyboard that offers functionality at the smallest possible size, an internal modem and an extremely low profile. By foregoing features that are standard on laptop computers a notebook computer offers an ultra lightweight, slim and portable computers that will more than meet the requirements of serious portable computers and whilst failing to possess all the bells and whistles of its larger (and heavier) cousin, the laptop computer, a notebook will provide a useful work and study tool that will keep you on the move and on the “net” Pyramid.com stock notebook computers that will meet your requirements for portable computers with essential usability.

HP G50-112NR Notebook PC Hands-On

Friday, March 5th, 2010
This is my overview on the HP G50-112NR Notebook PC. I will give you a hands-on look at the laptop and the box. I got this laptop for $349 at Office Depot during Black Friday 2008. I hope you will enjoy my hands-on overview and please remember to subscribe! rate! comment! Feel free to ask any questions about the laptop. Here are the specifications on the box as well as some other valuable details: * Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual-Core Mobile Processor T3200 (2.0 ghz) * 160 GB (5400RPM) Hard Drive * 3072MB DDR2 SDRAM (2 Dimm) * Super Multi 8X DVD+-R/RW with Double Layer Support * Windows Vista(R) Home Premium (32-bit) with Service Pack 1 * 15.4″ Diagonal WXGA High-Definition brightview Widescreen Display * 802.11b/g WLAN * 5-in-1 Digital Media Reader * 6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery * Conexant High Definition smartaudio 221 (speakers/microphone) * NO Built-In Webcam * Three (3) USB Ports CONCLUSION: I would recommend this laptop. While it may not be well-known as far as HP laptops go, it’s definitely a worthy alternative to the much more expensive HP Pavillion pc’s. It does have drawbacks as it does NOT have a built-in webcam, has a glossy screen and surface (attracts reflections and fingerprints), and has only three USB ports. However, it does have a nice screen and speakers. My final grade for this computer will be a 86%.
